Jump-start your climbing

Let NOVA introduce you to the world of glacial ice climbing. No experience necessary! The Matanuska Glacier, the massive valley glacier just 100 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska, has easily accessible shallow ice cliffs suitable for introductory ice climbing. This is strictly an introductory with no steep walls and low heights of 50+ feet. If you want more instruction, challenge and steeper terrain, try our "Advanced Adventure Trek". The views and photo opportunities are spectacular as well. Our ratio of 1:4 guide to guest means everyone gets plenty of opportunity. NOVA provides all glacier gear including boots, crampons, helmets, ice ax, rope and hardware.

Tour Highlights

  • A great introduction to ice-climbing.
  • Backdrop of the beautiful Matanuska Glacier Ice-Falls.
  • Add a whitewater rafting trip and save $10 (Lion Head or Six Mile Creek). See our Combo Specials.
