The Glenn Highway (Route 1) built as part of the Alcan war effort for WWII. The highway last year was added to the National Scenic By-Way system. Click here for more info. The drive up is spectacular, and because it's out of the main tourist traffic areas that connect to the major destinations, you will find comparatively little traffic.
